On November 20, we had our first brainstorm session with some members of the RoboCup team from Sioux and the data scientists and specialists from PSV.
We kicked things off with a presentation on the RoboCup event, the Sioux RoboCup team and the development status of the soccer robots, followed by PSV's fascinating insights into game principles, tactics, and the wealth of data tracked during matches. We learnt how state of the art data science is applied to analyze the performance of the whole team as well as individual players. Many technical topics were discussed during the meeting, providing insights into the understanding of a soccer match from the data point of view. This has helped us identify potential development directions for team strategy, performance evaluation, and more.
Thanks to PSV for their warm hospitality in organizing a lunch before the session and a stadium tour afterward. It was great to share knowledge and perspectives, and inspiring to see how this collaboration together with PSV can propel us forward.
Given the success and enthusiasm from both sides, a follow-up session will be planned next year.
